DESCRIPTION OF METAPHOR:

Ideas as Sharable Commodities

Under this metaphor, ideas, thoughts, hopes, desires, images, etc., or events of thinking, imagining, hoping, desiring, etc., are viewed as things (abstract or concrete) that can be shared between people.

QUASI-SPECIAL-CASE OF:

Ideas as Physical Objects

Since sharable commodities (in the general, non-financial sense) are often physical objects, an important special case of the metaphor is also a special case of Ideas as Physical Objects.
